Schedule
WEEK 1 - Foundational Practices (January 4, 12-2pm EST)
Let’s anchor ourselves in the essentials. We’ll begin establishing the physical ease that supports all vocal work and introduce the idea of building a simple daily practice ritual.
WEEK 2 - Speaking Voice, Resonance & Self-Talk (January 11, 12-2pm EST)
Your speaking voice is at the root of your vocal identity. We’ll work with subtle coordination tools, explore basic resonance, and look closely at how the way you talk to yourself shapes confidence and vocal behavior.
WEEK 3 - Play, Timbre & Supportive Feedback (January 18, 12-2pm EST)
Lean into exploration and creative play. Let’s experiment with modulating vocal timbre, dip into the world of overtones and why they matter, and begin practicing supportive feedback that helps you feel more grounded in your vocal explorations.
WEEK 4 - Reflection, Affirmation & Self-Coaching (January 25, 12-2pm EST)
Bring everything together. We’ll practice singing simple affirmations, learn how to listen back to yourself with care rather than critique, and use peer feedback to build a sustainable self-coaching approach.
Who’s this for
This course is for anyone who wants to feel more at home in their voice.
No prior training is required, and beginners and experienced singers alike are welcome.
Whether you sing, speak, teach, or create, Voice as Practice offers tools to help you reconnect with your natural sound and deepen your awareness. You’ll learn to listen with curiosity, release unnecessary effort, and build rituals that support your creativity and well-being, both in everyday life and in performance.
What you’ll explore
Develop awareness through your speaking voice. Use simple speech-based exercises and listening tools to understand how you already use your voice.
Release tension and reconnect to breath. Explore gentle stretches, resonance work, and breathing techniques that invite ease and openness.
Discover new sounds. Play with humming and improvisation, delve into resonance, expand your expressive range, and rediscover joy in your sound.
Coach yourself with mindfulness. Use recorded journals, affirmations, and reflection tools to guide your own growth with compassion and curiosity.
Design your personal practice ritual. Build a sustainable voice routine that fits your life, fosters consistency, and supports both creativity and confidence.

A renewed sense of joy and curiosity in using your voice
FAQs
Will I need to sing on-mic, in front of the group?
Nope! You’re in complete control of whether you share your voice. If you’d like to, there may be optional moments to participate in-session. You can also submit a short weekly clip to receive personalized asynchronous feedback from Courtney.
Is this course good for beginners?
Absolutely. Brief pre- and post-session surveys help ensure the material meets you where you are and addresses your questions and needs.
Do I need any special equipment?
A computer or tablet with Zoom, a quiet space, and a pair of headphones are plenty. If you already have a microphone or interface, you’re welcome to use them, but they’re absolutely not necessary.
What if I miss/can’t make a session?
Session replays will be available within 48 hours of each live Zoom session.
Is this course helpful if I’m already an experienced singer?
Yes. Even advanced or working singers often struggle with breath efficiency, tension, confidence, or inconsistent practice habits. The frameworks we explore, especially in the Instrument and Human domains, offer tools that deepen and refine vocal work at any level.
Do I need to prepare anything?
You’ll need a quiet space, a device with Zoom, and a pair of headphones. I also recommend bringing a notebook for reflections and a water bottle for hydration. That’s it!
There will be a few simple tools (like a drinking straw and some optional downloadable apps) that I’ll recommend during the course, but they’re not required. How much time should I set aside each week?
Beyond the live 2-hour session, most people spend an additional 10–20 minutes a day with the guided practice or weekly prompts. Everything is designed to be flexible and approachable, so you can adjust according to your schedule and energy.
What is the refund policy?
A full refund is available within 24 hours of purchase. After the 24-hour window, tuition is non-refundable. However, you may apply the full tuition toward private lessons or a future course if requested before the first live session (January 4, 2026).
When will the zoom recordings be available, and for how long?
Recordings will be available for replay within 48 hours of each session, and you’ll have access to them for 60 days after the course concludes.
What is the personalized asynchronous feedback?
Each week, you’re invited to submit a 30–60 second audio or video clip for personalized feedback from Courtney. This is completely optional. You can share either singing or speaking, and you’re welcome to indicate what kind of feedback you’d like (positive-only, areas for improvement, or a mix).
