Pedal Petting Zoo is a relaxed space to explore effects pedals, synthesizers, and other sound-shaping tools in a group setting.

We’re open to everyone, and we especially welcome vocalists, curious beginners, femme, queer, and BIPOC folks.

If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed or out of place in a guitar shop, we think you’ll feel cozier at our zoo.

What to Expect?

  • You’ll team-up to take turns exploring stations with different gear setups (like pedalboards, synths, samplers, even eurorack!).

  • After 5–10 minutes, each team shares a short snippet of sound they made (we call them ringtones!).
We'll talk about what felt exciting, what was surprising, and help demystify anything that felt confusing.

  • Because we rotate through stations, you'll get to learn from one another and see lots of different approaches to making sound.

You’ll leave with…

  • a clearer understanding of how effects pedals and synths work

  • new ideas for creating your own sounds

  • more confidence asking questions and exploring music technology

What to bring?

  • A pair of head phones, if you have them!
(we’ll have a few pairs to share, so don’t worry if you don’t have any!)

  • Optional: An effectt pedal or synth you’ve been curious about (or confused by!)
