I'm excited to announce my new EP, Growing Pains. I'll be releasing it digitally and on physical CD on November 10, 2017.
The album consists of five songs, all very personal and emotionally charged. I recorded the songs at Big Nice Studio in Lincoln, RI this January before I headed out to an artist residency. I wrote all the songs on the piano, and I wanted the album to be acoustic and brutal. The piece is really my homage to Fiona Apple's "The Idler Wheel...", which had a huge impact on me when it came out. When I listen back to the album, the songs dig deep into my heart. I had shelved the album for a while, so there was a eight or nine month period where I completely forgot about the songs. Didn't listen to them even once. When I came back and listened to what I had (and this is not a fabrication) I broke down and cried at the end of the five songs. The working title for the album was "Ugly Cry", and the irony was not lost on me. I'm grateful to my four amazing musicians who agreed to accompany me on the songs. Abby Swidler & Abigale Reisman on violin, Anna Stromer on viola, and Valerie Thompson on cello. I also couldn't have made this happen without my produce Vince, and Brad who runs Big Nice. My friend Liz gave me invaluable feedback and encouragement, as well as my bandmate Chris. I'm so grateful to them and to all the other kind people who support me and my creativity.
I can't wait to share the music with you, and I hope you enjoy!
